In 2010, Markus began to write the Confessions zine series.
Published under the name “Star”, this 10-part series shares intimate details from the author’s personal experiences as a young sex worker living alone in downtown Toronto.
This zine series has been sold at fairs across Canada and the USA, and sits in multiple LGBTQ archives.
After a meeting with a client, Markus/Star would detail the experience and create an original piece of visual art to accompany the story.
These excerpts are placed alongside personal accounts of struggling with homelessness, degrading mental health, and family rejection.
While many of these stories may be hard to read, there are also many moments of curiosity, thoughtful reflection, and honest joy.
The Confessions Zine Series is a story of Star’s determination to find beauty in the world – even during the toughest of times.
These zines are designed for adult audiences only. They include graphic description of erotic content.
The “Confessions” Zine series can be bought in the Starkiss Creations store – they are available in single issues ($10 each) or can be purchased as a set ($85).
